Statement on adoption of the Equator Principles
Bank of Guizhou Co., Ltd. has formally adopted the Equator Principles from November 30, 2020. The Bank has comprehensively sorted out and improved the organizational structure, credit policy and management measures, and business process, and built an environmental and social risk management system to fully fulfil the requirements of the Equator Principles.
The Bank of Guizhou was established on October 11, 2012, with its headquarters in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. It is a provincial local legal person financial institution established by the merger and reorganization of Zunyi Commercial Bank, Anshun Commercial Bank, and Liupanshui Commercial Bank. As of June 30, 2020, the Bank had total assets of RMB 424.268 billion, total deposits of RMB 279.320 billion. In the first half of 2020, the Bank had pre-tax profit of RMB 2.304 billion, net profit of RMB 1.929 billion, at the end of June,the non-performing loan ratio was 1.16%, and the provision coverage rate was 332.68%. The Bank was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Main Board on December 30, 2019, with the stock code of 6199.HK. It is the first financial institution in Guizhou to land in the international capital market. According to the "Top 1000 Global Banks in 2020" published by the British magazine, ‘The Banker’, the Bank was ranked 270th in the world and 45th in China. In the "Top 100 Banking Companies in China in 2019" issued by the China Banking Association, The Bank of Guizhou was ranked 47th. China Chengxin International Co., Ltd. also rose the corporate credit rating of the Bank from AA to AAA and simultaneously increased the rating of the Bank's outstanding financial bonds. It is the first corporate financial institution receiving a double AAA corporate rating in Guizhou Province.
In recent years, the Bank adheres to integrated policies, accelerates the construction of a green financial system, and puts great efforts on building a brank of green banking. As of the end of June 2020, the balance of green loans of the entire bank was RMB 21.517 billion, while a RMB 5 billion of green financial bond was successfully issued in 2018,which mainly supported the development of more than 100 green projects in the areas of energy conservation and environmental protection, pollution control, clean transportation, and ecological protection in the province.
The Equator Principles is a risk management framework, adopted by financial institutions, for determining, assessing and managing environmental and social risk in projects and is primarily intended to provide a minimum standard for due diligence and monitoring to support responsible risk decision-making.
The Bank of Guizhou will take the Equator Principle as an opportunity to support green development, practice corporate social responsibility, and effectively prevent environmental and social risks.
